Shorewomen Snap 38-Match Winless Streak In CC Road Matches and Has Best Record In Team History After Nine Contests
BRYN MAWR, Pa. – The Washington College women's soccer team scored a season-high six goals on its way to a 6-1 victory over host Bryn Mawr at the Applebee Field in Centennial Conference women's soccer action on Tuesday afternoon. With the victory, the Shorewomen ended a 38-match road winless streak in Centennial Conference action with their first CC road win in exactly eight years as Washington has its best record after nine contests in program history at 6-3-0. The 2009 squad started 5-3-1, while the 2000 and 2002 teams opened 5-4-0. Junior midfielder Lindsay Russell (Wilmington, Del./Ursuline Academy) factored into three of the six goals as she totaled career-highs of two assists and four points to go along with one goal.

How It Happened
- Olivia Sabatino received a pass from Russell and her shot from 15 yards out found the left side of the goal to give Washington a 1-0 lead.
- The Shorewomen doubled their lead just 73 seconds later as Maribeth Harrington received a pass from Emily Caldarelli and deposited her shot from about 30 yards out into the goal's left side to give the visitors a 2-0 lead.
- Washington extended its lead to 3-0 in the 24th minute when Arianna Sabatino grabbed a rebound of a Russell shot and placed into the lower left corner from about six yards out.
- Bryn Mawr scored on its first shot of the match with 2:05 left in the first half as Kara Breeden's chip shot off of a free kick from 25 yards out on the right side found the upper left corner of the goal to trim the Washington lead to 3-1 and that would be the halftime score.
- In the second half, WC got its three-goal lead back at the 65:07 mark when Lauren Neary finished off a feed from Harrington to give the Shorewomen a 4-1 cushion as her shot from the right side found its way in on the left side of the net.
- Lindsay Russell deflected in a pass from Cayla Marcinko from 10 yards out in the middle of the box into right side of the goal to push Washington's lead to 5-1.
- Sara Douglas made it 6-1 with 4:14 remaining on a penalty kick goal into the lower right side following a foul in the box by the Owls.

Notes
- It was Washington's first away Centennial Conference win since September 26, 2009, eight years to the day, since a 1-0 overtime win at Franklin & Marshall on a Jen Stafford golden goal 7:23 into the first overtime period from Ainsley Boynton '13.
- The Shorewomen were 0-34-4 during the 38-match winless road conference streak. Washington tied both Bryn Mawr (2011 and 2014) and F&M (2012 and 2015) twice. All four were scoreless draws.
- Today's win was the Shorewomen's first win at Bryn Mawr and first conference regulation road win since a 4-1 win at Bryn Mawr on November 1, 2003. WC was 0-3-2 in its last five trips to Bryn Mawr prior to today.
- Washington downed the Owls for the first time since October 9, 2013 when a penalty kick goal by Heather Smith '14 stood up as the lone goal in a 1-0 victory.
- The six goals is the most by a Shorewomen Soccer squad in Centennial play since a 7-0 victory at Bryn Mawr on September 15, 1999.
- Prior to today, Laura Tocci '17 was the last Washington player to register two assists in a match as she did on September 14, 2016 in a 2-1 win over Goucher.
- The Shorewomen had their third match this season where they scored four or more goals. The last time the Shorewomen achieved this was in 2012.
- Olivia Sabatino currently stands at 37 career points, which is third in program history. She trails just Meghan Hartzell (38 points) and Stephanie Bradley '06 (41 points) on the all-time points list at Washington.
- Today's victory was the team's 10th all-time win over the Owls, the most wins for Washington over a single opponent. WC leads the all-time series 10-6-3, which dates back to 1998.
