CAMBRIDGE, Mass. -- Freshmen Tyler Dorfman (West Hartford, Conn.) and Isaac Reed (Keene, N.H.) registered eight kills each while combining for six service aces and five digs to lead Mount Ida to a 3-0 non-league college men's volleyball victory over Lesley Thursday evening at the Nicholas Athletic Center.
Sophomore Kevin Vanderhorst (Lawrence, Mass.) added six kills, two service aces and a pair of digs in the visiting Mustangs' (12-15) 25-14, 25-8, 25-10 triumph, as junior Tyler Shinkle (West Deptford, N.J.) recorded five kills and four digs while sophomore Andre Foster (Davis, Calif.) chipped in with three kills for the winners. Sophomore Kevin Keohane (Jefferson, N.J.) notched 22 set assists, five digs and three service aces on the night for Mount Ida, which received a combined five digs from junior Ethan Souza (Acushnet, Mass.) and freshman Mason Leonard (Langdon, N.H.) in completing a two-match season sweep between the two squads.
Junior Steven Newman (Natick, Mass.) collected a pair of kills and three digs in the setback for the host Lynx (0-10), who received two kills each and a combined three digs from junior Karuna Chiemruom (Cranston, R.I.) and freshman Colin Holter (Warren, Vt.). Junior John Gersbeck (Westerly, R.I.) added three set assists for Lesley, which received three digs from freshman Armando Bahena (South Boston, Mass.).
Mount Ida heads into Boston on Saturday morning for a Great Northeast Athletic Conference tri-match with host Wentworth and Johnson & Wales beginning at 11:00 a.m., while Lesley travels to Brookline, Mass. on Saturday morning for a New England Collegiate Conference doubleheader with Newbury that also begins at 11:00 a.m.
