Gedney, Doerges Lift Wellesley To Non-League Sweep Of UMass Dartmouth

DARTMOUTH, Mass. --  Junior Lauren Gedney (Huntersville, N.C.) and sophomore Nicole Doerges (San Marino, Calif.) notched 13 kills each and combined for 11 digs to lead Wellesley to a 3-0 non-league college volleyball victory over UMass Dartmouth Wednesday evening at the Tripp Athletic Center.

Junior Molly Weik (Seattle, Wash.) added eight kills in the triumph for the visiting Blue (4-1), who won by game scores of 25-19, 25-15 and 26-24.  Sophomore Izzy Seebold (Concord, N.C.) collected 35 set assists, eight digs and a pair of service aces on the night for Wellesley, which received eight digs and three service aces from Doerges along with 12 digs from sophomore Lizzy Jensen (Burbank, Calif.).

Senior Nicole Silverman (Chelmsford, Mass.) registered four kills and 10 digs in the setback for the host Corsairs (0-4), who received three kills each from junior Alivia Connors (Derry, N.H.), sophomore Mallory Singer (Succasunna, N.J.) and freshman Emma Spach (Billerica, Mass.).  Freshman Courtney Carreiro (Dartmouth, Mass.) chipped in with 10 set assists and a pair of service aces for UMass Dartmouth, which received eight digs from senior Jillian Sykora (Waterford, Conn.).

UMass Dartmouth travels to New London, N.H. on Friday evening for a non-league match with Colby-Sawyer that begins at 7:00 pm, while Wellesley squares off with Bowdoin in opening round play of the MIT Invitational on Friday evening in Cambridge, Mass. beginning at 6:30 pm.
