Four Runners Earn All-OAC Honors as No. 22 BW Women's Cross Country Places Second at OAC Championships

TWINSBURG, Ohio – The No. 22 nationally-ranked Baldwin Wallace University women's cross country team competed in the Ohio Athletic Conference Championships, hosted by John Carroll University in Liberty Park.

In a six-kilometer event that was composed entirely of OAC schools, BW managed to place second out of nine teams, scoring 49 points. Crosstown rival and host team John Carroll University narrowly took home the OAC team title with 41 points.

Four Yellow Jackets claimed All-OAC honors for their performances in this afternoon's race. Senior Kelly Brennan (Akron/Walsh Jesuit), junior Madison Kile (North Canton/Hoover), and sophomore Alyssa Laughner (Howard, Pa./Central Mountain) all earned All-OAC first team selections for placing in the top nine runners. Junior Hastings Marek (Pataskala/Watkins Memorial) garnered an All-OAC second team selection for placing in between 10th and 18th place. Brennan and Kile both secured their second career All-OAC first team finish, while Laughner claimed the first of her career. Marek ran for her second career All-OAC second team finish.

For the fourth race this season, Brennan led the charge for BW with a third place finish in 22:39.6. Trailing just behind her was Kile who came in fourth place in 22:53.0. Next to cross the finish line for the Yellow Jackets was Laughner, who placed eighth in 23:17.9. Marek followed a couple spots later in 11th place and a final time of 23:33.9. Rounding out the top five BW runners was junior Molina Otte (Omaha, Neb./Millard West) who came in 23rd place in 24:14.0.

The Yellow Jackets will return to the racecourse on Saturday, November 16 when they travel to Grand Rapids, Michigan to compete in the NCAA Great Lakes Regional Championships, hosted by the Calvin University.
