Spartans Comeback Falls Short Against Grace Christian

WYOMING, Mich. - The men's soccer team's second half push fell a goal short in yesterday's road contest at Grace Christian.

The Spartans conceded two goals in the first half. The first was scored in the 22nd minute. The second came in the 45th minute just before the halftime whistle blew.

Manchester's offense worked tirelessly in the second half to fight back into the match. In the 88th minute forward Mason Douglas (Howe, Ind./Lakeland) was able to draw a foul in the box to earn a penalty kick. Senior captain Noah Black (Swayzee, Ind./Mississinewa) stepped up to the spot and slotted it home in the right side netting drawing the Spartans closer 2-1. It was Black's first goal in his collegiate career. The effort was too little too late though, as the Spartans ran out of time to find the equalizing goal.

The Black and Gold now fall to 0-2-1 on the season but will look to enter the win column as they host two matches this weekend. Saturday they host Wittenberg. They will have a quick turnaround as  Sunday they play host to Alma. Both matches will be a 1 p.m. at Spartan Stadium.
