Manchester Starts Season With a Draw

NORTH MANCHESTER, Ind. - Spartans men's soccer team played for a hard fought draw Thursday evening against Rockford to open up the regular season. The first matchup between the two programs ended in a 0-0 tie. 

Both teams struggled to put a shot on frame this evening as there were a total of 4 shots on goal between the two squads on 19 total shots. The best chance came in the 57th minute for the Spartans as Cory Mitchell (Maitland, Fla./Winter Park) fired a volley from a service from Elliott Mozingo (Fishers, Ind./Fishers) just wide left of the goal. 

First year goalkeeper Aaron Ketchmark (Kouts, Ind./Kouts) earned the cleansheet behind 3 crucial saves. 

The Spartans will be back in action on Saturday on the road at Illinois Tech for the first contest between the two programs since 2017. Match is set to start at 4:30 p.m. eastern, 3:30 p.m. central.
