Due to financial circumstances, Clarks Summit University’s Board of Trustees has made the difficult and painful decision to begin the process of closure. Clarks Summit, including Baptist Bible Seminary, will no longer offer classes.

Located in Clarks Summit, Pennsylvania, about 8 miles north of Scranton, the university enrolled just 269 full-time undergraduates in its most recent filing with the U.S. Department of Education. Of those 269, 48% were student-athletes.

The school is offering teach-out plans with Cairn and Division I Liberty University, while student-athletes will be entered into the NCAA Transfer Portal within two weeks of closure.

Clarks Summit joins Eastern Nazarene, Birmingham-Southern, Wells and Cabrini in announcing closures effective the end of the spring 2024 semester, while Fontbonne will close following the 2024-25 academic year.
