Bison lead wire-to-wire in 15-8 win over Mitchell

DUDLEY, Mass. – Junior Brian Hancock (Groton, Mass.) potted four goals to lift the Nichols College men's lacrosse team to a 15-8 win over Mitchell College Thursday night in non-conference action at Vendetti Field.

Sophomore Tyler Sikich (Hermosa Beach, Calif.) added three goals and senior Michael Bane (North Grafton, Mass.) racked up four points (2-2-4) as the Bison won their second-straight game and improved to 6-8 on the season. Freshmen John Zaremski (Dorchester, Mass.) and Brett Stuhr (Duxbury, Mass.) each scored twice, and senior Corey Davis (Wakefield, Mass.) dished out two assists.

Mitchell senior Jordan Cook (Groton, Conn.) and junior Dan DiGioia (Glen Ridge, N.J.) each netted a pair of goals. Freshman Brian Jordan (Wappingers Falls, N.Y.) led all student-athletes with seven ground balls.

Nichols scored the first seven goals of the game and led 9-1 at halftime. Sikich scored three-straight in the first and Hancock closed the half with markers at 10:57 and 10:02, respectively. Bane, Hancock, and Stuhr each scored in the third to send the game to the fourth with NC up 12-3 before the Mariners (4-7) closed the game by scoring five of the final eight goals.

Freshman James Keane (Franklin, Mass.) turned aside two shots to earn his sixth win of the season. Sophomore JD LeMay (Lagrangeville, N.Y.) notched 12 saves in defeat. Nichols outshot the Mariners 46-18 as Bane fired off 17 shots. Junior Darby Geno (White River Junction, Vt.), sophomore Steven Oldakowski (Bethlehem, Conn.), and freshman Conrad Burke (Fishkill, N.Y.) each tallied four ground balls for Nichols.

The Bison host Gordon Saturday in their home finale at 2 p.m. The Mariners play at Regis (MA) Saturday at 4 p.m.
