Bison thump Mitchell, 18-1

DUDLEY, Mass. – Freshman Cole Fontana (Grafton, Mass.) scored five goals to lift the Nichols College men's lacrosse team to an 18-1 win over Mitchell College in non-conference men's lacrosse action Wednesday afternoon at Vendetti Field.
 
Junior MacKenzie Martin (Merrimack, N.H.) collected five points (2-3-5) while graduate student Reece O'Connor (North Grafton, Mass.) and senior Tyler Sikich (Hermosa Beach, Calif.) each notched two goals and two assists. A total of 10 Nichols student-athletes registered at least one point.
 
Sophomore Nate Mortimer (Hampden, Mass.) potted two goals for Nichols, which also saw classmate Brian Davidson (New Milford, Conn.) notch three points (1-2-3). Sikich led the Bison with eight ground balls while junior James Keane (Franklin, Mass.) made seven saves to improve to 3-0 on the season.
 
Nichols held a 59-17 edge in shots and won 19-of-23 face-offs, led by freshman Pat Nally (North Attleboro, Mass.), who was 10-of-11 on draws.
 
All-Time Series
This afternoon's contest marked the eighth all-time meeting between Nichols College and Mitchell College. The Bison have now won the last four meetings and lead the series, 7-1.
