Pipers Improve to 4-0 with Big Win at Loras

The road has been no obstacle so far for the Hamline lacrosse team. The Pipers made it three lopsided wins in four days away from the Twin Cities with a 19-4 win at Loras Monday afternoon. Kalley Elwell led the offensive surge with five goals and the triumvirate of Lexus Tatge, Sydney Dynneson and Maya Hernandez added three each as the Pipers improved to 4-0 overall and 3-0 in Midwest Women's Lacrosse Conference play. The Pipers outscored their foes 55-8 in winning three games in four days in enemy camps.

The game followed the same pattern of the two other road wins (at Beloit and Monmouth).

Hamline had an explosive first half, taking an 11-3 advantage into the intermission. Goals by Brayden Maass and Alycia Monserrate Novotny 59 seconds apart severed an early 1-all tie. HU led by 4-3 with 11 minutes to play in the half. Then the Pipers unloaded eight goals -- three in a span of 20 seconds -- to gain the big halftime edge.

The Pipers added eight more in the second half. The HU defense was solid as well, holding the Duhawks to one goal. For the season, Hamline is surrendering just 3.25 goals per game, one of the top defensive totals in the country. Molly Dionne was credited with three saves in goal to earn the win.

HU stays on the road Thursday, March 28. The trip, however, isn't very far this time -- just down I-94 to Augsburg. Game time is 7:00 p.m.

The Pipers will play for the first time this year at Klas Field this weekend -- hosting Cornell on March 30 (3:00 p.m.) and Carroll (12:00 p.m.).
