Hope charges past Olivet in MIAA women's lacrosse opener

Attacker Bridgette Lay scored a career-high four goals for the Hope College women's lacrosse team in a 25-2 victory at Olivet College on Saturday.

The freshman from Ottawa Hills, Ohio (St. Ursula Academy), pictured, led a group of 12 goal scorers for the Flying Dutch in their first Michigan Intercollegiate Athletic Association match of the season.

Hope (6-2 overall) equaled its second longest win streak with its fourth consecutive victory. The longest win streak is five games (2013 and 2016).

Senior attacker Allison Darnell of Farmington Hills, Michigan (North Farmington) and sophomore attacker Rachel Elder of Grand Rapids, Michigan (East Grand Rapids) chipped in three goals apiece.

Sophomore midfielder Carly Pieri of Alto, Michigan (Caledonia) added two goals and two assists.

The Flying Dutch received two goals and one assist from sophomore attacker Paige Rosenbrook of East Lansing, Michigan (Haslett) and freshman Madison McCreery of Rockford, Michigan (Rockford).

Sophomore attacker Jane Ragains of Western Springs, Illinois (Lyons Township) and freshman attacker Cora Davis of Waterford, Michigan (Rochester Adams) each scored twice

Sophomore midfielder Sydney Muller of Grand Rapids, Michigan (Grand Rapids Christian) had one goal and two assists.

The 25 goals tie for the second-most scored by the Flying Dutch in a game.

Hope's next game is Tuesday, April 2 at 6 p.m. at home against Kalamazoo College.
