Hamline Extends Two Winning Streaks

The Hamline women's lacrosse team continues to streak across every field they play on. The Pipers made it six wins in a row in 2019 and 23 wins without a loss in their Klas Field history with a 16-2 decision over Cornell (Iowa) Saturday. HU improved to 5-0 in Midwest Women's Lacrosse Conference the same way they had done in previous games -- grabbing a big halftime lead and not letting up inm the second session. 

This time, it was a six goal in eight minute outburst midway in the first half that sent the Pipers on their way. HU led 9-1 at intermission. For the season, Hamline has outscored foes 57-11 in the first 30 minutes of play. Maya Hernandez was the leader of the scoring pack with four goals. Lexus Tatge and Sydney Dynneson were close behind with three each. Dynneson added a pair of assists. Maddie brown was also in the giving mode. The senior scored once but also had four assists. 

Dynneson broke the ice 6:49 into the game. 57 seconds later, Ashley Hessler made it 2-0, In both cases, Alycia Monserrate Novotny drew the assist. Brayden Maas' goal at 10:12 jumpstarted the six goal explosion that warmed up everybody up on a sunny, chilly afternoon. Hernandez had two in each half as the Pipers pulled away. 

Molly Dionne worked the first 42:56 and allowed only one goal to earn the win. The senior leads all D-III women's goalies with a 3.93 goals-against mark. Alyssa Bryan-Jeffries handled the final 17:04 in the net. 

Barbie Becker scored both goals for Cornell (3-5, 0-4 MWLC). 

Hamline takes on Carroll University (Wis.) in a non-conference game on Sunday, March 31 at Klas. Game time is 12:00 p.m.
