Novotny, Brown Lead Hamline to 8th Straight Lacrosse Win

Alycia Monserrate Novotny and Maddie Brown -- two longtime stalwarts -- led the way for Hamline's women's lacrosse team in a 13-6 non-conference win at Wis-River Falls Wednesday night. Novotny scored four times and Brown added three as the Pipers improved to 8-0 on the season.

Molly Dionne, the reigning MWLC Defensive Player of the Week, had eight saves in goal to pass the 500 mark for her career at HU.

The game followed an established pattern for 2019.

Kalley Elwell's first of two goals 1:56 into the game ignited a nine goal explosion in the opening 30 minutes. Novotny and Brown also scored twice in the session as HU grabbed a 9-4 lead at intermission.

In the second half, the Falcons, a first year program, stayed within range and trailed 11-6 with 10:37 to play. Novotny and Brown struck again to close things and keep the Pipers' perfect string alive.

Hamline, 5-0 in MWLC play this season, plays at Illinois Tech Saturday and Concordia (IL) in conference action. They start a five game Klas Field homestand against Northwestern on April 10.
