AU Wins Big on Senior Day Against Elmira

ALFRED, NY – The Alfred University men's lacrosse team was hitting on all cylinders on Saturday afternoon as they hosted Elmira College on Senior Day. The Saxons (8-3, 4-1 Empire 8) used a full team effort in a dominant victory over the Soaring Eagles by a score of 27-2.

 

Garrette Briggs (Horseheads, NY/Horseheads) was a headliner once again for AU as he broke the single game ground balls record at Alfred University with 24. Briggs also was 28-29 on faceoffs and assisted on one goal.

 

Kyle Landrigan (Canandaigua, NY/Canandaigua) had a career day to celebrate his senior day as he totaled 8 points with three goals and five assists. One of those assists came on a goal from fellow senior and twin brother, Zach Landrigan (Canandaigua, NY/Canandaigua), who finished with a goal and three caused turnovers.

 

Cale Donegan (Corning, NY/Corning-Painted Post) finished with six points including four goals and two assists.

 

Jack Chapman (Elmira, NY/Notre Dame) recorded a hat-trick and an assist on the day while Patrick Brewer (Bath, NY/Haverling) also had three goals and an assist.

 

Adrian Romero (Rochester, NY/Greece Arcadia) came into the game with just one goal on the season but notched three in this one including a highlight-worthy behind the back goal in the fourth quarter.

 

Noah Soriano (Valley Cottage, NY/Nyack) kept up his impressive first-year season with two goals and two assists on the afternoon while Jon Waugh (Hamburg, NY/Bishop Timon) scored twice and assisted on a goal, all in the second half.

 

Dalton McCumber (Rochester, NY/Greece Athena) and Connor DiDomineck (Bath, NY/Haverling) both had a goal and an assist on the day.

 

Joe Fornataro (Rochester, NY/Greece Athena) scored one goal and assisted on two others on his senior day.

 

Peyton VanBibber (Canton, NY/H.C. Williams), Kaelan Winkky (Horseheads, NY/Horseheads) and Frank Gavigan (Yorktown, NY/Yorktown) all scored once for AU.

 

Shane Weber (Hull, MA/Hull) had four caused turnovers on the afternoon to break the century mark in that category and give him 103 for his career. He also added one assist and nine ground balls.

 

Anthony Ricottilli (Cortland, NY/Cortland) assisted on three goals while Connor Prunoske (Elmira, NY/Elmira), and Zack Gibaud (Greece, NY/Greece Athena) each had one assist.

 

Senior goalkeeper, Brandon Smith (Queens, NY/The Governor's Academy) picked up his first win of the season, going 30 minutes with two saves and just one goal allowed.

 

"Good effort today on senior day.  It's great when you can pick up the win and everyone gets in," Head Coach Jason Lockner said. "Adrian Romero and Cory Schutte (Hamilton, NJ/Hamilton High School West) made some great plays today, happy for these guys!"

 

The Saxons will be back in action next Tuesday as they Host The College at Brockport at 4PM.
