When you find a formula that works, you stick with it. 

The Hamline lacrosse team had another big first half and rode home for an 18-2 win over Benedictine (IL) on a warm day at Klas Field Friday. The Pipers stayed atop the Midwest Women's Lacrosse Conference with a 10-0 mark and improved to 13-1 overall with the lopsided verdict. 

HU, which scored a dozen first half goals in a 16-4 win over Northwestern earlier in the week, topped that with a 14-goal first half. For the season, Hamline outscored opponents by a 125-39 margin in the first 30 minutes of play. Lexus Tatge set the tone right away by scoring twice in the first three minutes of play. Alycia Monserrate Novotny scored a pair with Sydney Dynneson and Dani Perry adding solos and HU had a 6-0 lead eight minutes into the game. 

They kept their foot on the pedal the rest of the half, finishing with a 14-2 advantage. They added four more in the second half. At the other end of Klas, Alyssa Bryan-Jeffries recorded eight saves to earn her first win in her first start in goal. 

Dynneson led the goal parade with four. Tatge and Kalley Elwell added three each while Monserrate Novotny had a pair with three assists. Perry, who scored her first goals of the season against Northwestern, added two more with a helper. 

This sets the stage for Saturday's home game against Aurora. It's the final regular season home go around for six seniors -- four of whom have been with head coach Karen Heggernes from the first day of the program. But there is more to consider. Aurora, a 11-6 winner over Augsburg Friday, is 10-1 in MWLC games, trailing the Pipers by a mere half game for the top spot.
