Rowan Heads to NJAC Final with 15-6 Win over Stockton

GLASSBORO, NJ – Led by four goals apiece from Molly Green and Jamie Cutrera, Rowan rallied from an early deficit to defeat Stockton, 15-6, in the semifinal of the NJAC Women's Lacrosse Championship. The second-seeded Profs now advance to the NJAC Championship game for the second year in a row, and will travel to top-seeded TCNJ on Saturday, May 6, at 1 p.m.
 
Rowan, now 14-4, has tied the most wins in a season in the 16 years under head coach Lindsay Delaney, matching the record of the 2018 squad.
 
Green, the NJAC's Midfielder of the Year, had four goals and three assists while Cutrera, an All-NJAC First Team selection, had four goals and one assist. Freshman Elaina Corson added three goals in the victory.
 
Goalie Reilly Shaup made eight saves for Rowan as the Profs held a 28-14 edge in shots on goal.
 
Although Stockton (12-5) jumped out quickly, taking a 3-0 lead with two goals from Lexie Jackson, Rowan fought back with goals from Erin Renshaw and Cutrera, which was set up by Green, to pull within 3-2 by the end of the first quarter.
 
Rowan then rattled off four straight goals, to go up by 6-3, with Renshaw tying the game at 11:31 of the second quarter off a pass from Julianna Corson. Green gave the Profs the lead for good as she tallied a free position goal at 7:55, while Elaina Corson followed with one 30 seconds later. Cutrera added the fourth goal, with the assist from Michaela Donnelly, as Rowan held a 6-3 advantage, before Stockton cut it to 6-5 with a pair of goals in the final two minutes.
 
The Profs regained their momentum at the start of the third quarter and would go on to outscore the Ospreys, 9-1, over the final two quarters, including a 6-0 advantage in the third.
 
Green started the scoring in the third quarter, followed by a goal from Elaina Corson, with Green scoring again off a pass from Cutrera. Fiona Lockhart got in the scoring column, assisted by Donnelly, and Julianna Corson followed with one at 2:28. Cutrera scored with 49 seconds to go in the quarter to give Rowan a commanding 12-5 lead.
 
Cutrera scored her second in a row to open the fourth quarter, assisted by Gree, before Stockton's Brianna Robinson broke the Profs' streak with one at 6:23. Green finished out the game scoring at 3:48 and assisting on Elaina Corson's goal at 3:13.
 
It will mark the sixth time in the nine years of the conference championship that the Profs are appearing in the NJAC Final.
